Old Goats compete at Greater Boston Track Club Meet
As the indoor season gets into full swing, the first big team meet of the season took place at Harvard on Sun. 1/19/2020. This meet was a nice early season look at the goats and what a sweet look it was.
Jack DeVine made his season debut in Long Jump, setting a season best and club indoor record jump of 20' 10.75" (6.37m). Jimmy Doty led of the running events with a club record 39.60 in the 300m, while at the same time Carley was taking 3rd in pole vault with a club record of 11' 8" (3.56m). Next on the track Austin ran in the invitational heat of the mile (in which the rabbit was a familiar face; friend of the club Ryan Wittenberg!) and came in at 4:24.90. Ryan Moran clocked in a 5:10.09 in his first run back since June and it was sure great to see him back out on the track. Dan Mortimer ran a cool 4:45.26. Jon Stiles made his club debut in the 800m with a PB (and personal first!) of 2:32.48. Jack DeVine continued his club record setting day with a high jump of 6' 2.75" (1.90m) good for 2nd place! The club finished out the day with the men teaming up for the 4x440yd relay!
Looking ahead, some goats may brave the very competitive Terrier invitational at Boston University, while others will continue their training and perhaps take to the slopes. The next big event team event is the Billy Brockmueller Indoor Invitational hosted by the Brown Running club where the goats will be out, and in greater numbers. #HerdUp
